ADOPTION

Having a former administrator of an adoption agency in the firm and having represented a number of couples in the adoption process, we have extensive experience with adoptions. In North Dakota, there are two basic types of adoptions, agency adoptions and identified adoptions. An agency adoption is where an adoption agency takes a very active role in communicating with both the birth parents and adoptive parents, but the birth parents and adoptive parents generally do not know the identity of each other. An identified adoption is where the birth parents and adoptive parents know each other and work together throughout the birth/adoption process. Below are worksheets we use in order to prepare for the legal proceedings necessary to finalize an adoption.
